Abstract

Introduction: The oxytocin (OXT) levels and personality traits of heroin addicts and control participants are significantly different, which may be a sign of a general propensity to substance use disorders. The aberration of OXT secretion was also linked to unfavorable early experiences, such as neglect as a youngster. Aim of the study: To determine whether there were any baseline variations in oxytocin levels between individuals with heroin use disorder and healthy controls, as well as the relationship between oxytocin levels and patients' assessments of childhood neglect.
