Abstract

How were the relations between Peru and The United States during the nineteenth century? What agreements did both States reach? What successes and failures did both diplomacies have and if this affected relations during this period? some of the questions that we would try to answer in this article. For which the present paperwork has been divided into three parts: First part called “The unfinished freedom”, which covers between 1821 and 1845, comprising the beginnings of the republican life of Peru; Second part “The ephemeral boom” that covers between the years 1846-1872, a period in which Peru went through economic growth; And finally the third part “The tempest of the south” that covers between the years 1873-1899, crucial moments that Peru lived before, during and after the war of guano and saltpeter. Culminating with some final considerations.
