Deaths and injuries caused by lightning in the state of pará — Brazil over the period of 2001 to 2012

Abstract

Deaths and injuries caused by lightning in the State of Pará, Brazil, for the period between 2001 and 2012, were analyzed regarding: (a) the localization of the cases (b); ration between deaths and survivors per year (c) professional activities of the fatal victims; (d) gender; (e) age group; (f) circumstances of the accident; and (g) economic losses, based on relevant facts and convergences for subsequent analyzes integrated, which will contribute to the accidents prevention, in order to serve as a model for other Amazonian states.
