Abstract
The power transformer is a critical component of an electrical power system, and its effective functioning is essential to system operation. One power transformer failing may result in extended supply outages, expensive maintenance, and financial damage. Early diagnosis of transformer failures can assist in preventing costly unanticipated outages. For this purpose, one of the best tools for power transformer condition monitoring is transformer oil dissolved gas analysis (DGA), which helps one evaluate the transformers’ current state and anticipate disastrous failure. In this paper, DGA has been performed on an in-service transformer at eight different aging intervals to evaluate the influence of aging on the evolved gases (between 2470 to 3155 days), and the results are analysed to identify the pattern of the evolved gas formation.
