Describes the efforts of the US Army's Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) in the areas of realistic communications-channel modeling, realtime simulation of on-the-move tactical communications, and a high capacity digital radio communications performance model. The paper concludes with an illustration of using the digital radio performance model to determine maximum link lengths telecomm.<>
