The first wave of Russian émigré writers of the 20th century has attracted attention as an internally heterogeneous phenomenon for quite a long time. There are two generations of this wave traditionally distinguished by the researchers: the older (I. Bunin, I. Shmelev, and others) and the younger (V. Nabokov, G. Gazdanov, and others).
