Abstract

The economic dispatch of power generating units have always occupied an important position in the electric power industry. This paper presents a Hopfield neural network model based method to solve economic dispatch of power systems. To solve the economic dispatch problem using Hopfield model, an energy function comprising power mismatch, total fuel cost and the transmission line losses along with their associated weighting factors is defined.
