Review of "Spreadsheet Comparison of VISICALC versus MULTIPLAN"

Abstract

VisiCalc was my first electronic spreadsheet and of course it was "just plain magic" with power. It is still, in my opinion, a very fine piece of software; particularly in some of the updated versions. Multiplan came along after I had become competent with VisiCalc, and I can remember the excitement over the fact that it had a SORT capability. After using both packages for some time I favor Multiplan, but I think it's fair to say that the authors of Multiplan took a good thing (VisiCalc) and improved on it.
