Abstract

This paper presents a case study in which an energy saving of about 3% and a reduction of CO2 emission were achieved by introducing energy-cost-based conductor size optimization (ECSO) and a voltage boost at a major factory. Without applying this approach, the original energy distribution loss ratio was calculated to be 4%. However, using ESCO and a voltage boost from 220 to 440 V, this was reduced to 1.1%. The calculation and measured loss ratios were found to be in good agreement with each other.
