Abstract
Bronchial asthma is a widely spread disease, that becomes more and more costly to the countries` medical and financial systems with each year. Growing burden of bronchial asthma necessitates a search for the most effective methods of diagnostics and treatment of different asthma phenotypes, including relatively rare.
From this point of view, glycomics appears to be one of the most interesting and perspective branch of medicine. This science section researches various carbohydrates complexes and their roles in the development of different diseases.
In the context of bronchial asthma receptors for advanced glycation-end products (RAGE) and their soluble variants (sRAGE) are of interest to researches. Besides, sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-type lectins (Siglecs) can play a key role in the principal new tactics of the treatment. Affecting on Siglecs can lead to decrease of proinflammatory activity of immunocompetent cells and bronchial walls protection. Finally, N- and O-glycans remain almost unresearched. However, these molecules are potentially able to play an important role not only in the diagnostics and verification asthma, but also in allergenicity of various molecules.
