Competence oriented embedded systems course for computer science students

Abstract

This paper describes the evaluation process of an embedded systems laboratory course by observing students' solution approaches in an embedded systems project. Furthermore, the course's conditions, organization, objectives and a software/hardware environment are presented. This environment allows the relocation of many tasks from the laboratory to the students' home workplace. Additionally, the biggest hurdles for the participants are summarized.
