Abstract

—This article evaluates through simulations on network simulator (ns2) the conditions where queue packet delays due to an bursty traffic (exponetial on/off ) may be calculated with good approximation using a simple fluid model. Both traffic parameters (relative burst/idle times) and initial queue are tested and adequacy of fluid model representation can be verified
