Abstract
Focusing on green innovations to deal with the increasing environmental concerns and improve green productions is an important way in improving a company’s performance and sustainability. The sophisticated processes involved in green innovations have been attracting a great amount of attention in business field as well as in academia. In this study we empirically investigate the effects of supplier integration and customer orientation on green innovations, and identify the moderating effect of green information system in this process. Drawing on the information-processing theory, we propose a conceptual framework that specifies the relationship stated above and empirically test those relationships based on 231 China-based firms. This study contributes to the much-needed efforts in finding ways to improve green innovations through the management of the whole supply chain, and provides helpful managerial implications to practitioners on how to successfully manage external resources to improve green innovations and achieve expected benefits.
