The Connotations and Cultural Dimensions in the Introduction of Ibn Bassam Al-Shantrini’s Al-Thakhira

Abstract

Andalusia witnessed progress in the sciences, arts, urbanism, literature, economic and political aspects. This progress prompted many scholars and writers to mention the merits of this culture, and celebrate it for successive generations through their poems and blogs so this becomes a witness on the work of the fathers and grandfathers and this brings pride of those ancient virtues. The book Al-Thakhira was a good example on embodying the meanings and dimensions of Andalusian culture and civilization through what the book has from the translations of the great people in Andalusia. If one just looks at the introduction of this book, one feels proud of those golden generations. My study deals only with the introduction of this book and what it cantains from cultural connotations which is a necessary topic to write about because it gives an idea about that historical golden period, which Muslim contributed to.
