Abstract

The power efficiency of a three-phase inverter for a BLDC motor drive is analyzed theoretically and experimentally with varying rotor speeds and load torques to elucidate the effect of the rotor speed and load torque on the power efficiency. Based on the theoretical analysis and the simulation/experimental results, the power efficiency is not affected by the rotor speed but by the load torque. As the load torque increases, the power efficiency is found to decrease.
