Abstract
Sky View Factor (SVF) is an index describing the geometry of urban buildings, reflecting the visibility range of urban buildings and affecting the urban surface energy balance and urban thermal environment. In this paper, the SVF and the inverse urban surface temperature (LST) are calculated using the building footprint and height data of Beijing urban area and Landsat 8 thermal infrared data, respectively, and the seasonal influence of SVF on LST is investigated through the correlation analysis of LST and SVF. The results show that the SVF is positively correlated with urban surface temperature and there is seasonal variability.
