Abstract
AbstractObjective. To explore the effect of repeated hospitalization and the practice of department transfer on the average hospitalization days of patients. Methods. To analyze the original method of calculating the average hospitalization days in the HIS system, readjust the calculation formula, and then write software plugged into the HIS system independently and correct the statistics. Results. To calculate the data of average hospitalization days by using the calculation formula “total hospitalization days of discharged patients/(the number of discharged patients + the number of transferred patients−the number of inpatients whose hospital stay is resolved within the department)”, and then compare the data with the data calculated through the original system (P < 0.05); the difference before and after adjustment has statistical significance. Conclusion. By developing the software system, the false appearance of decrease in the average number of hospitalization days caused by purposely resolving the ho...
