Abstract
The Gangetic Dolphin, also known as the South Asian River Dolphin, Indian Dolphin, or Ganges River Dolphin, is one of only five species of freshwater dolphins found worldwide. This unique species is distinct due to its long, slender snout and being approximately twice the length of other river dolphins. As an important indicator species for the health of river ecosystems, the Gangetic Dolphin is highly sensitive to changes in water quality and habitat degradation. Unfortunately, this species is considered endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species due to various threats, including habitat loss, pollution, and accidental entanglement in fishing gear. Numerous conservation efforts are being implemented to protect this endangered species, including establishing protected areas and conservation programs to reduce pollution and promote responsible fishing practices. Nevertheless, continued conservation efforts are necessary to safeguard the future of the Gangetic Dolphin and its vital role in maintaining the health of river ecosystems. Dolphins
