Abstract
This paper deals with the design and characterization of Radial-Line-Slot-Array (RLSA) antenna developed based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) method. The proposed SIW-based RLSA antenna is intended to work around the center frequency of 5.8GHz suitable for wireless local area network (WLAN) application. The antenna is designed using 6 layers of 1.6mm thick FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate and fed by a coaxial feeding line technique. Meanwhile the SIW is implemented using an array of vias placed concentrically on the antenna side connecting an SIW surface on the top side and groundplane on the bottom side. The characterization result show that the proposed design of SIW-based RLSA antenna could resonate at the frequency of 5.8GHz which is available for the desired wireless communication.
