Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate mode-based phase shift monitoring for optical processors employing a subwavelength grating-based phase shifter enabling a 12% temperature coefficient difference between two modes. The second mode extinction ratio increases from 2.2 dB for a conventional phase shifter design to 29.45 dB.
