Abstract

Transportation in urban areas is among the key factors for a smart and resilient city. Strategic studies on the most appropriate transportation systems are crucial for metropolises. The objective of this paper is to analyze through a literature review the factors that influence the success or failure of a transportation system based on bike sharing. We will analyze these factors and project them onto the African context through a case study. The city of Marrakech in Morocco is considered an ideal city for this type of project and will be adopted as the study area. Present the methodology behind, the choice of factors, the weighting of these factors using multi criteria decision methods and the generation of the final map. Also present the data sources used in the case of a developing country. The result is a heat map capable of showing us the high demand areas for the project. This project aims to help decision makers implement projects that meet the Sustainable Development Goals' objectives of making cities more resilient and sustainable.
