Care of a child with conduct disorder

Abstract

The period of childhood and adolescence plays a very crucial part in the overall development of one's personality and leaves a mark on their lives. Many a times, we see children and adolescents behaving differently or adopting maladaptive behaviours. These antisocial, maladaptive behaviours are the basis of conduct disorder (CD), which results from interaction of multiple biopsychosocial factors. Identifying these maladaptive behaviours, diagnosis and addressing them at the earliest is very essential. Failure to do so may result in development of an antisocial personality disorder during their adulthood. Nurses play an essential role in the care and treatment process of these children with CD. In this article, we will be discussing the various aspects of nursing management of a child with CD.
