In the past this complex syndrome has been regarded as merely a cosmetic issue or a complicating factor for fertility. However, during the past decade new research has emerged highlighting its more sinister long term consequences. This update will endeavour to explain Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and its treatments.
