Abstract

T H E author is of opinion that myxcedema really " depends upon a perverted " renal function. We find that the thyroid juice possesses a distinct " diuretic action in diseases of the kidney, though apparently it is negative " in healthy persons." After injection of thyroid juice the urine increases in quantity, and this effect has been noted in a case of myxcedema to continue for fourteen to twenty-one days. Hunter Mackenzie.
