Abstract

This paper proposes one method of determining a location in two-dimensional (2D) space, where the mobile station (MS) determines its location based on three reference stations (RSs) whose locations are known. Here we present the closed-form solution for 2D-TDOA, and proposed the method where the RSs do not have to use time references nor do they have to be synchronized with each other. Furthermore, the closed-form solutions were confirmed by a simulation in MATLAB.
