Abstract

This study highlights the influences of pre-treatment and plating conditions on the cutting performance of cBN-coated tools. The pre-treatment evaluations investigate the profile, chemical cleaning, and bombardment conditions of the cutting edge. The plating condition evaluation concerns the influence of TiN and cBN plating conditions. In this paper, TiN plating is employed as a pre-process of cBN plating.
