Woven textiles for automotive interiors and other transportation applications

Abstract

Abstract Woven textiles are an important element within the car interior and also in other areas of transportation including bus, train, marine, and aircraft. This chapter discusses these applications and gives a technical insight into the background of how woven textiles developed within the automotive industry. Also discussed are how and where within the vehicle they are used and the technical issues which the fabric producer has to overcome, and how fabrics have evolved to meet the varied but always very stringent requirements of the industry.
