Electrical Incidents and How They Relate to NFPA 70E & CSA Z462

Abstract

This paper examines several electrical incidents and compares them to what the NFPA 70E and the CSA Z462 Standards would require and what actually happened in the field. Estimates range from 80% to 95% as to how many incidents are caused by people. Even if you strictly follow necessary safety procedures and precautions and believe you are safe, but the incident might still result due to your own or someone else’s unsafe or careless actions. Several incidents are reviewed in this paper, including personal injury and equipment damage by two experienced authors.
