Abstract

A novel lightweight grounded dielectric-slab-based Bull’s-Eye antenna working at f = 12.6 GHz is presented in this work. The structure, which displays two sets of five periodic semicircular strips asymmetrically distributed around a central feeding monopole, shows a numerical high gain beam (20.2 dBi) and −20.3 dB side lobe level. Both numerical and experimental results show an enhancement of the side lobe values with respect to previously analysed resonant-slot-fed antennas despite the experimental response deterioration due to manufacturing inaccuracies.
