Questionnaires were distributed to the local residents who live in Donggang township with a simple sampling method. The results showed that a significant difference was found in the category of religious involvement to age, gender, educational background, visiting purpose, and visiting frequency. A significant difference was found in the category of place attachment to marital status, age, educational background, visiting purpose, companionship, and visiting frequency. Also, a positive correlated relationship was found between religious involvement and place attachment. In other words, the local residents would have a greater chance to understand and appreciate their folk religion in the area. Abstract
This study aimed to discuss the relationship between the local residents' religious involvement and their level of place attachment toward Dong-lung Temple in Donggang township.
