Abstract
This paper presents a study of the relative permittivity of different materials that are commonly used during electromagnetic absorption tests, e.g. hyperthermia and diathermia equipment characterization, specific absorption rate of cellular telephones, etc. The relative permittivity of materials is measured by using a probe based on the reflected wave and using a network analyzer. The materials tested were deionized water, used as reference, two muscle-like phantoms, and methacrylate, which is frequently used to make phantom containers. The permittivity values are presented in the frequency range from 200 MHz to 8.5 GHz
