Abstract
A simple frequency re-configurable (CDRA) employing a PIN diode in the H-shaped slot of the ground plane is presented. FR-4 material with a relative permittivity of 4.3 is used for the substrate as well as the dielectric resonator. The DRA is resonating between 5 GHz and 10.3 GHz, achieving a gain of 6.1 dBi and 4.03 dBi when the PIN diode is turned OFF and ON respectively. The impedance bandwidth at the resonance frequency 5 GHz is 0.53 GHz and at 10.3 GHz is 1.75 GHz. The pattern of the antenna in both the frequency is in broadside. The cross-polarization levels are at −20.5 dBi for the ON state of the diode and −16 dBi for the OFF state respectively. The presented re-configurable CDRA can be used for WLAN and X-band applications.
