Abstract
Radio-over-fiber (RoF) has emerged as a potential candidate for the transport of microwave, cellular and wireless broadband signals for coverage extension, antenna remoting and other high speed applications. OFDM has found its way as wireless standard for LAN and MAN systems due to its spectral efficiency and interference rejection capability. In this paper, a single mode fiber optic link is modeled for the transmission of OFDM based WLAN signals. A rate equation model was utilized for modeling the 1550 nm DFB laser source based transmitter. The BER performance of the WLAN signal transmission through the fiber optic link is examined both in the forward and reverse direction. Further the effect of wireless channel along with the fiber dispersion is also determined.
