Abstract

A mode-dependent-loss (MDL) equalizer based on silica-PLC is proposed for three-mode transmission and experimentally demonstrated for the first time. By selectively attenuating LP01-mode, 1.5-dB MDL equalization is demonstrated for the setup with large LP11-mode loss. © 2022 The Author(s)
