Abstract

When the spacing between the radiating elements of a phased array antenna is more than one wavelength, unwanted grating lobes are generated in real space besides the main beam, and their level can climb so high that the antenna cannot work normally especially when the spacing becomes even larger. Several engineering methods which are very effective in suppression of these grating lobes are introduced in this paper and verified through engineering experiments. The fact is that the theoretical analysis fits well with the measured results.
