Abstract

Investors are the backbone of the securities market. They not only determine the level and magnitude of activities in the securities market but also in the economy as a whole. The growth in the numbers of investors in India is pretty encouraging. The trends reveal that in addition to FIIs and Institutional Investors, small investors are also gradually beginning to regain the confidence in the capital markets that had been shaken consequent to the stock market scams during the past decades. It is imperative for the healthy growth of the corporate sector that this confidence is maintained.
