Abstract
We theoretically studied the effect of all degradations to C-band optical SSB-OFDM: signal-to-signal beating interference, phase-to-amplitude noise, and intercarrier interference, and attenuation. Each noise source has the potential to dominate degradation depending on the signal-to-carrier power ratio and the number of zero padded subcarriers. We examine each noise effect in terms of signal-to-noise ratio, which is calculated for all subcarriers using simulation and theory. Simulations confirm that theoretical expressions obtained match numerical results.
