On opening the collapsed membranous cranial sac, " which had probably contained fluid," a small quantity (about 3 grs.) of pus-like fluid was found in the middle fossa of the base, which presented under the microscope the compound granular corpuscles " usually seen in cerebral ramollissement." The other appearances were such as usually occur in anencephalous foetuses. The abdominal cavity presented the marks of intra-uterine peritonitis. The intestines, omentum, liver, and diaphragm were covered with coagulable lymph, and in most places adherent. The spleen and supra-renal capsules were absent, as is usual, according to several
