Abstract
The design of an antenna, consisting of two strip monopoles printed on the same side of an electronically thin dielectric substrate and using 50 Omega microstrip feed line, is presented. The proposed antenna can provide two separate impedance bandwidth of 450 MHz (about 17.5% centered at 2.575 GHz) and 1 GHz (about 18.5% centered at 5.4 GHz) with return loss S11 below -10 dB. It easily covers the required bandwidths for wireless local area network (WLAN). The dual-band antenna is simple in design, and the lengths of the antenna's larger and smaller strips can easily control the lower and higher resonant frequencies, respectively. The widths of the radiation elements are changed to get better impedance matching. Details of the proposed antenna design and results are presented and discussed.
