Abstract

This paper discusses some of the results obtained after a multi-seasonal operational test on two commercially available passive infrared counters (PICs), and their use as pedestrians counting sensors as a function of site. In addition, a sensitivity evaluation was performed to determine various properties and effects during extreme conditions. Three sites were selected for field analysis in Winnipeg, Canada. Potential applications on active transportation are also discussed.
