Abstract

The idea of generating tunable mid-IR signals by mixing stabilized CO2 laser lines with tunable millimeter waves has been put to work in a high-resolution spectroscopic instrument with direct frequency reading. With this instrument, over 100 lines of the R, P, and Q-branches of the n3 fundamental of CH3F have been measured recently, with ±6.5 MHz absolute accuracy.
