CHANGES IN SPIRITUAL CULTURE OF KINH PEOPLE LIVING IN RURAL AREA IN VINH LONG PROVINCE, VIET NAM, FROM 1986 TO PRESENT

Abstract

The study examines the changes in spiritual cultural life of the Kinh people in rural area of Vinh Long Province from 1986 to present. Observation and interview are the two main methods used in this study. The resultsshow that the spiritual cultural life of the Kinh ethnic group in Vinh Long Province from 1986 up to now has undergone many changes. The main changes are identified in the following aspects: beliefs, religions, traditional festivals and customs of marriage, funerals. These changes are due to many reasons such as changes in the socio economic environment, the residents’ needs.
