Abstract

Nano-black lipid membranes (nano-BLMs), which are lipid membranes suspended over solid-state nanopores, are used to detect the activities of membrane proteins over longer periods of time than traditional black lipid membranes. However, traditional folding and painting techniques that used to form nano-BLMs have low success rates because they are complicated. Here, we present a simple procedure to form nano-BLMs with a self-spreading method.
