SYSTEMS OF IMAGE PROCESSING IN THE SOLUTION OF VARIOUS GEOGRAPHICAL PROBLEMS

Abstract

A general conceptual paper explores the use of diverse remote sensing images (and their derivative products) in the solution of applied problems in geographic research. Of particular interest is the description of the types of imagery currently in use in Russia given the limited financial resources available during the country's economic transition. Also important is information on the types of procedures currently employed in image processing. A series of sample applications is described.
