Abstract

Description of the eastern Malatya plain from the mouth of the Taurus Gorge to the legionary fortress (of XII Fulminata) at Melitene. The historic crossing at Tomisa, used by Shalmanezer, Sardur II, the Persian Royal Road, and Roman invasions of southern Armenia. Villages beside the Euphrates and the port of Melitene. The conical peak of Dulluk Tepe, a signalling node hanging above the fortress. Description and new plan of the remains of Melitene. Destruction above the Karakaya dam.
