Abstract
Hybrid amplifier is a promising technology and give a better performance because it can handle network with a high traffic. Hybrid amplifier is used to optimize gain bandwidth of WDM-based system. Optimization of the hybrid amplifier (Raman-EDFA) make gain spectrum being around the same reinforcement intensity by lowering the gain flatness of 4.3 dB to 0.01 dB with an average gain of about 25.7 dB which has a bandwidth range of 75 nm along 1530–1605 nm. The simulations have showed that hybrid amplifier performance test (Raman-EDFA) on long haul U-DWDM (Ultra-DWDM) system with 205 km have several value of Q Factor which is varied on channel 1 (7.97), 20 (7,24377), 40 (6.68281), 60 (7.01838), 80 (6.4435), 100 (6.58715) and the lowest Q Factor on the 80th channel (6.4435). These values indicate that the U-DWDM long haul system with hybrid amplifier configuration (Raman-EDFA) arranged in series with the specifications listed in this research is only effective at a maximum distance of 205 km.
