Abstract

Candle soot (CS) has been considered as an excellent superhydrophobic material, but natural CS is fragile and can be moved away easily by water drops. Therefore, we combined CS with polydimethylsiloxane (CS-PDMS) to develop a facile method for preparing the superhydrophobic soot-like coating without any surface chemical modification. The water contact angle was upto 160°. This CS-PDMS showed good frictional resistance due to excellent mechanical strength of PDMS.
