Abstract
This book has two purposes. One is to describe the new population and economic growth that is taking place beyond the established suburbs of metropolitan areas and in once-remote places even farther removed from the large cities--to provide an analysis of how this growth along with other change is transforming the politics, government, and economy of America and what this is likely to mean for the future. The second is to provide a guide for those who are considering moving to this newest American frontier, whether to a place within commuting distance of some sizeable population center or farther away in one of the many self-contained communities where new opportunities abound.
