Abstract
In the competitive era of impending technology, congestion and accidents are still a threat due to various reason, such as high mobility, short link lifetime, and spectrum efficiency in vehicular networks. One of the predominant factors is shortage of spectrum. Hence, the need of efficient management of spectrum in vehicular communication is important. Consequently, the role of cognitive radio (CR) in a vehicular network is essential. In order to exhibit the importance of spectral efficiency, an architecture has been proposed for vehicular communication in CR. The proposed architecture is to minimize both the spectrum inefficiency and spectrum scarcity issues. In addition, multi server queuing model is designed for CR vehicular network. The mathematical analysis shows that CR queuing model is effective in a vehicular network in term of reducing the average waiting time in a system, average waiting time in a queue for a vehicle, and utilization factor of the queuing model.
