Study of Immature Stages of Two Flesh Flies, Sarcophaga nodosa (Enge1.) and S. exuberans (Pandelle) [Diptera: Sarcophagidae), From Uyo, South-eastern Nigeria.

Abstract

Two sarcophagid flies, Sarccophaga nodosa (Engel), and S. exuberans (Pandelle), which breed in animal carcases in Uyo, South-eastern Nigeria, were reared on beef through three generations in the laboratory. Mean developmental durations from larviposition to adult emergence were 30.3 ±1.3 days for S. nodosa and 15.5 ± 2 days for S. exuberans. The larvae and pupae of the two species were described and a key to the larval instars provided.
